Achievements

We have been successfully representing members' interests since 1995. In this time the industry has developed from a basic value add telecoms environment to a fully interactive media and entertainment rich industry. Our achievements map the developing nature of our organisation and a few of the significant achievements are highlighted below.

2011 Micropayments analysis and Market Map released – supports new AIME Strategy Group initiatives for market growth

2011 Business proposal for Higher Rate Premium Rate Services submitted to Ofcom and agreed industry consultation target Q1 2012

2011 Research into technology needs of Charities released – drives initiatives for a shared interactive technology resource and Mobile Gift Aid Best Practice

2011 Research into perceived Payforit transaction drop off - used to deliver higher conversion rate + education around transparency & simplicity of consumer payment journey

2011 60%+ AIME changes to PhonepayPlus 12th Code adopted. Co-operation to improve regulatory process transparency by producing the ‘Process Schematic’

2010 Successfully lobbied Ofcom for change to Broadcast Code 10.9 PTV Rule, to enable participation / payment via apps

2010 Proposals for changes to SMS voting regulation accepted by PhonepayPlus and amendments to Participation TV Prior Permission approval rules re-published

2010 Reached agreement with Ofcom and ASA for Code changes, including a new framework for regulation of Psychic and Chat Services in broadcast

2010 Successfully lobbied PhonepayPlus for the reintroduction of Multi-Party Chat; also successful with significant changes to Virtual Chat Help Note

2009 Proposal for Industry Registration Scheme & Central Industry Database agreed by Ofcom. To be implemented under PhonepayPlus 12th Code of Practice

2009 Best Practice Code for Mobile Service Providers introduced

2009 Callcosts.co.uk launched (price transparency website)

2009 Yahoo Media Notifications Group (tariff transparency & data fill check process)

2008 Mobile Marketing – AIME wording proposal agreed with Information Commissioner Office (ICO) for soft-opt in consistency on mobile

2008 Business Case for Higher Rate Premium Tariffs submitted to Ofcom

2008 Best Practice Guidelines for Participation TV services using Mobile shortcode text and voice services introduced. Signed up to by main UK broadcasters.

2008 Billing – AIME Payforit research results used to develop Payforit V.2
