AIME takes charity initiative and launches Knowledge & Networking series to bring together charities and the interactive industries

- series to explore how interactivity can increase awareness, donations and engagement for charitable organisations

25th May 2010: Leading trade association for interactive industries, The Association of Interactive Media and Entertainment (AIME) today announced the first event in its series of AIME K&N seminars for the charity sector: Empowering the Charitable Sector with Interactive Technology (May 27, London)

The full day event is aimed at educating and creating awareness about what interactive platforms (web, fixed telephony and mobile, email, social media and Red Button TV) can do to help engage consumers and drive higher charitable donations.

Organisations such as Comic Relief, World Society for the Protection of Animals, Save the Children and Kids’ Company will share the benefit of their experience in using interactive platforms and lessons learned from using an interactive strategy to support their own charitable objectives.

For example, mobile is becoming one of the main strategic focuses for an increasing number of non-profit organizations. However, there is still some confusion and uncertainty over how mobile donation campaigns can be run: who pays for what? How are the out-payments handled? And what direct costs are involved?

Toby Padgham general secretary AIME said: “While the value of interactive platforms is generally appreciated, technology is advancing rapidly and this brings greater opportunities for supporter engagement and fundraising. It also raises strategic questions about how the technology is best employed and requires a level of trust, transparency and understanding of the mechanics that drive new revenue channels. AIME is in a position to work with members and third sector partners to create this series, provide industry leadership and plug any knowledge gaps that may exist.  The success of recent high profile campaigns such as Sport Relief, clearly demonstrates that consumers are now habituated to using interactive channels.  This series of events will explore the issues surrounding the interactive process with a view to improving it further so that all charities can benefit.”
